Event Info
During the event, each competitor must carry:
- Compass
- Whistle
- Issued Rogaine map
- Ultra fine Sharpie or other waterproof pen
- Clothing appropriate to weather conditions
- Water carrying capacity at least 1 liter
Per team minimum includes a first aid kit. At night, each competitor must carry a headlamp or flashlight as well as spare batteries and one spare light source per team.
Water sources are plentiful in the Park - both potable and natural. With the buffalo and wildlife, the natural sources should be filtered or treated just to be safe.
A cellular telephone stowed in a waterproof case is recommended. Service providers are Verizon and AT&T. CDMA-based coverage is more prevalent in western South Dakota.
No GPS units, altimeters, or pedometers may be carried on the course.
